FML

Okay. Let's catch you guys up on what's been going on in my.....somewhat depressive life. I am not in Nursing School this semester. I had to take those two horrible classes over, but wait, you can only fail/not pass 3 upper level nursing courses. So ....I did my appeal and everything, but they don't think it's enough. I worked hard for that, and what do I get...a big fat no, you cannot continue in this nursing program. Screw them! I enrolled in my child development courses, which put me at 18 hours at the beginning of the semester, and I was kind of relieved to not have to worry about studying all day everyday for nursing. 4WEEKS after school starts, I get a phone call from the secretary of nursing school saying the DEAN said I can return to 410...which is the hardest of the two senior med-surg courses. I was thrilled! I couldn't believe it. I was getting ready for my 1:30 Parent education class, but I had time to stop at the nursing building and get things done. I filled out paper work, enrolled in the course, like I was told to do, and got all my ducks in a row. A few of us were weeks behind and had to get prepared for check offs, computer training at the hospitals, skills lab, drug tests, calculations exams....lots of stuff. I was stressed again, but I didn't mind it. I had the opportunity to finish nursing school. Who would say no to that?!

A week later, I was sent back to the dean's office (who is never there as a matter of fact), to pick up her decision regarding me and a few others continuing on in the nursing program. I was furious when I first found out earlier that day that she was still MAKING UP HER MIND about us continuing....I mean how does that work?! I attend classes for a week, I dropped 4 child development courses so that I could concentrate on THIS class, I had no car at the time since mine conked out on me, I paid my effing fees, and you tell me I can't continue AFTER the date to add classes?! My advisor was even confused. I was fine with them telling me no the first time, but no, yes, no.....Youd don't do that to someone. You don't give them their hope back just to slap them in the face and say syke! I wanted to blow them up! I wanted to expose them for WHAT they really were...especially the chair person. Yes I am still bitter because I spent SIX YEARS working on this and when I have ONE YEAR remaining, they tell me no. I'm not going to apologize for not being the typical spoiled rich college kid who can ask mommy and daddy for anything and they'll get it. I had to work. I had to put gas in my car for all the ish I was driving to FOR nursing school. I had bills to pay, I needed to eat, I needed somewhere to sleep and study. How dare they!

But, let's get to the good news. I am expecting! Due in September and I have been miserable. The blessing in disguise is that I was so sick that nursing school wouldn't have even given me the time of day with my hyperemesis gravidarum (Severe morning sickness). I was hospitalized, I couldn't eat for weeks at a time, the medicines made it worse. I did NOT like being pregnant for the first 3 1/2 months. I guess that's why I wasn't as upset as I should've/could've been. I'm only in 2 classes this semester and I hardly showed up at them, but I still have a B in both...I don't have to do very much critical thinking right now. I'm taking it day by day and hoping...praying that something happens in the near future with me and nursing.

I could say that I'm a little embarrassed that one of my younger sister's is graduating from Southeastern on the 18th, but her degree is in general studies.....

She was majoring in education, couldn't pass the PRAXIS, (she took it a billion times apparently), so she decided to change it to .....general studies. That is another high school diploma to me. I don't want to seem dismissive of her hard work, because I know for damn sure she worked hard for it, but I feel like she wasted her time and money for a degree that won't get her anywhere. To me and employers, that looks like she can't stick to something, can't make up her mind, and she gave up. General studies degrees are a way to just get out of college and say you have a bachelor's degree. There is nothing you can do with it.

Anyways, I'm going to finish studying for my two finals tomorrow and hope this horrible gas this child is giving me goes away pretty soon. Until next time!
